Special Dan Grade Course & Dan Grading-BARNSLEY

TIMES :

Training : 10.30am – 12.30pm

Grading for Sandan and above : 1.30pm onwards

Please register on the KUGB app and bring your KUGB licence with you on the day.

This free training course is for KUGB Dan grades only. The course is not just intended for people taking their higher Dan gradings. Karateka of 1st Dan and above should be attending the training.  The grading is for those taking Sandan and above.

SYSTEM FOR REGISTERING FOR DAN GRADINGS

To register to grade, please go to the KUGB app which can be downloaded from the App Store (Apple users) and the Play Store (Android users). On the app you can access and update your KUGB licence profile, update your licence, book into events and much more.

GRADING FORM

Please complete and remember to attach a passport-sized photo to your form and bring the form with you to the grading.

Forms and licence books must be presented at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the grading.

Your Instructor MUST complete the Permission box on your grading form.

GRADING FEES :

3rd Dan – £100
4th Dan – £110
5th Dan – £120
6th Dan – Free

Re-take (Kata or Kumite only):

3rd Dan – £60
4th Dan – £60
5th Dan – £60
6th Dan – Free

The above fees include a KUGB Dan-grade certificate and registration for successful candidates. Certificates will be sent by post.

For 5th Dan and above

Those taking 5th Dan and above must provide a CV and typed thesis of 1500-2000 words on any aspect of Karate-Do to the Technical Committee at technicalcommittee@kugb.org  at least one month prior to the grading.

Permission to take 6th Dan must be requested in writing to the Technical Committee at technicalcommittee@kugb.org, who will advise the candidate on how to proceed. Candidates must also provide a Karate CV and typed thesis of 2000 words on any aspect of Karate-Do at least one month prior to the grading.

Those who fail a Dan grading may re-take their grading at the next Special Dan Course.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Gumshields and KUGB-approved white hand-mitts are compulsory for Jiyu Ippon Kumite and Jiyu Kumite.

IMPORTANT CHANGE

During Jiyu Ippon Kumite and Jiyu Kumite it is compulsory for females aged 12 years and over to wear a chest guard. Females under 12 may wear a chest guard at the discretion of their parent/guardian. 

During Jiyu Ippon Kumite and Jiyu Kumite is compulsory for males aged 12 years and over to wear a groin guard. Males under 12 may wear a groin guard at the discretion of their parent/guardian.
